Toad Data Point on Citrix

Hello,

I´m currently trying to get Toad Data Point working on our Citrixfarm. We tried versions 3.8.0.575 and 4.0.1.775, both of them installed according to the Installationmanual.

We´ve got different license keys for different usergroups. Both professional and base editions. After the first runup of the application via the shared symbol on my desktop, it asks for a key. After entering, it was accepted. But it doesn´t seem like the license keys get stored. Everytime I restart the application it keeps asking for my license key. It even asks for the key if the admin supplied it directly.

How can I get the Data Point to remember my license after closing the application and a restart?

We also installed Toad Data Modeller on Citrix, which works just fine. Dell Support won´t help me...

kind regards

Max

I also have problem connecting to Postgresql data source.

I downloaded and installed Postgresql ODBC drive (https://www.postgresql.org/ftp/odbc/versions/msi/ 64 bit version)

in Windows control panel I added ODBC data source: when I press test says: connection succesfull

I created new connection with new PostgreSQL ODBC data source but I got this ODBC error message: "The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application"

(operartion system is Win7 64 bit, I tried both 32 and 64 bit ODBC driver, I use putty to build SSH tunel so Postgresql database is available on local machine (127.0.0.1)  )

Toad Data Point is currently a 32 bit application and does not use the 64 bit ODBC that you downloaded.  That is the error you are getting.   A 64 bit version is in Beta right now.

If you can update to a current 32 bit Postgresql ODBC driver then that should solve your problem until we get the 64 bit product out.

I got it: I downloaded psqlodbc-setup.exe from postgreSQL web page (psqlodbc_09_05_0400.zip) and installed. After I started odbcad32.exe and added as 32 bit ODBC data source, and after this it worked.

Problem connecting to PostgreSQL

Hi.

I'm trying to connect to a PostgreSQL database, but failed. During connection, there is a warning stated that "Minimum driver version requirement not met. You will still be able to connect, however some Toad features may not be available." (My version of PostgreSQL is 7.4.2)

Then, I just ignore the warning, and proceed. Connection looks successful, but i got this error message:

"Error while executing the query;ERROR: schema "<None>" does not exist"

The schema available at my PostgreSQL is only Public Schema. At Toad Data Point Navigation Manager, I can see all the tables, but because of schema is <None>, it will pop up error message "schema "<None>" does not exist" everytime I tried to view the table's content.

Thanks in advance.

Where do you change password for Local Storage Connection

I've been using Local Storage successfully, until I had to change my network password.  Now I'm getting the following error:

There was a connect error. Check that the username and password are correct, that you have registered this user using the registration tab, and that the registered user has not been disabled: Unable to connect to any of the specified Local Storage hosts. (Remembered answer: "OK". Enable)

Where do you change the password?  I right clicked on Local Storage Connection, Properties, but everything is grayed out and I don't see where you would change a password anyway.

It's defaulting to Builtin HUB connection, but I cannot change anything in this box.

Can Toad Data Point connect to SSAS?  As in using a cube.  If so, how?

Hi Greg,

I can see the SSAS connection type when creating new connection - have you tried it? Or maybe creating a odbc data source and using it as generic odbc connection in Toad - but i googled out that only Tabular mode works in such case and for multidimensional you have to use linked sql server. (I am not personally experienced in this area, just sharing what i was able to find)

toad.exe not ending in task manager after completion of the process.

Hi have a automation scheduled which run several scripts then runs a macro to perform certain formatting and then send email. Till last week everything was smooth as the process was ending with 0x0 result(In task scheduler). Now after the process is exited through normal window or the scheduled process it does not end in task manager.

Though I have managed a workaround till I find the fix by creating a .bat file which will kill the toad.exe however, it does not seem to be a great solution as it will close all the open toad.exe processes.

Few details of installation - It is setup on windows 7(In my office) on a normal desktop which I use for scheduling several reports(weekly, daily, monthly) basis.

I have Toad for data analysts 3.0.1.1734. I know it's pretty old but our org didn't upgrade :(

Any help would be much appreciated.

There is not a need to every change the password for local storage. Where are your Local Storage data files stored? Are they different from the default?

Can you run TDP with command line arg to turn on logging and then try to connect to local storage?

....Toad.exe /log=all

After you produce the error please go to Help | About | AppDataDir and post the Toad.log file.

We most definitely connect to MSAS. Once connected you will see that the Query Builder and Data tab browse quite different because of the cubes.

I am on Toad Data Point 3.7 basic (not Pro).  I don't see a connection type of Analysis Server.

This type of connection is only offered in the Pro edition. You can download the latest Beta and check it out there.

Thanks,  I suspected that was what it was.

As always you are the best.

Query builder where clause IN operator with trailing SPACES

$

Hi,

I am trying to use Toad Data Point 4.0.0.624 query builder in a IBM DB2 LUW database.  (The previous version of toad was not having any issues with this)

When I select a column and then add a where =  'ACTIVE    ' (one of the existing values from the table)  The SQL generates correctly AND (MBSH.DA_MBST_CUR_STS_CD = 'ACTIVE    ')

but

If I use IN

the text is trimmed to remove required spaces.

I have tried searching for an option to stop this but have not been successful.

Thank you in advance for your help.

While Comparing Sqlserver:Datetime2 with Oracle:Timestamp, it displays Diff in Data Diff viewer in Toad Data Point 4.0

Please help me out for this issue to compare Sqlserver:Datetime2 with Oracle:Timestamp in Toad Data Point 4.0.

I ran the sql query in Editor1(SQL Server DB) and Editor2(Oracle DB)
SELECT ANSWER_ID, ANSWER_CAPTION, EFFECTIVE_DATETIME FROM DIM_ANSWER

Data in Data set in Editor1 and Editor2 displays same format for EFFECTIVE_DATETIME as yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.ffffff.
However, when I tried to compare these two data sets, there are always show different between 2 EFFECTIVE_DATETIME fields.

Status     ANSWER_ID  ANSWER_CAPTION ANSWER_CAPTION          EFFECTIVE_DATETIME           EFFECTIVE_DATETIME
Different          0                           UNKNOWN                     NKNOWN         10/13/2014 9:40:04.227 PM        10/13/2014 9:40:04 PM

Setting as follows.
In Tools->Options->Environment->Grid
Data Type Formatting:
DateTime Tab : ISO pattern(yyyy-MM-dd HH.mm.ss.ffffff)
Custom Tab : SqlServer:DATETIME2   DateTime  yyyy-MM-dd HH.mm.ss.ffffff

If I did it in Toad Data Point 3.6, there are no different at all.

How can this issue be fixed?

Regards,

Jerry

Figured out thr issue.  There was some mysterious problem with my windows profile hence I had to delete and create profile again which did the trick along with new job name.

Try trimming the MBSH.DA_MBST_CUR_STS_CD field.  Then when you use IN all will be well.

RE: Data Point connection to PostgreSQL database instance

I struggled trying to Data Point to connect to a PostgreSQL database too.  Here is how I was able to connect:.

Follow the first three steps Kiki mentioned above:

1. Install PostgreSQL ODBC driver

2. Select postgreSQL in TDP connection manager

3.  Click Data source button to invoke ODBC DSN and add new PostgreSQL connection

In the Create New Connection screen, rather than add entries in the top portion of the scree for User:  Password: and Database:,  enter the following in the ConnectionString: field below:

Driver={postgreSQL UNICODE};Server=localhost;Port=5432;Database=<your database name>;Uid=<your userid>;Pwd=<your password>;

This assumes that you are trying to connect to a PostgreSQL database that is installed on the same machine that you are running Data Point.

Good Luck!
